A message from Johanna Weaver andTom Bordigon to those who helped
with the Recognition & Appreciation Dinner.
April 9th, 2008

Don't you just love it when a plan comes together!!! Talk about teamwork!!! What a committee!!! Last night was a perfect example of all this. Members accepted responsibility and we didn't have to give it a second thought. Let us count the ways:

Loriann Mulvey had the registration list and sign-in table humming. A full summary report was available within
hours after the virtual bell rang to adjourn the meeting and before her head hit the pillow. (Oops the closer
forgot to ring the Kiwanis bell at the end)

Lori Ann Giovinco, the dynamo that energized us all with her inspiration, prepared (she really worked hard at it) a
talk from the heart that wowed everyone and in her spare time did the name tags. Next year when she is
president, be ready for the ride of your life.

Nikki Andrews handled the dinner reservations with the hotel and took charge of the setup. Blue & gold napkins to
match Kiwanis colors and all the club banners on display really added to the evening (By the way, from all
reports every request anyone made of the hotel staff was granted /fulfilled immediately if not sooner.)

Charles de Bourbon designed the registration bulletins, 3 different ones, that were fabulous and then topped that with
certificates and a program design that were outstanding, .....always ready ahead of time. (Just a word of warning
if you work with Charles. Expect to change or minimize your sleep time. He does his best work at 3 AM.)
He
has the patience of a saint and never gives up. He even sent out an E-mail 1 hour before the dinner urging
Kiwanis members to attends and at least one more did. Charles Cahn, who was thrilled he did.

Sue Folk who just came back from Aruba with no tan lines on Wednesday. She was so totally refreshed, arrived
early for setup and couldn't help enough. As promised, she had those dedicated Aktion Club members at their
post passing out the programs.

Denise Murray and her wonderful daughter Caitlyn, were the first to arrive for the setup work and handled an array of
requests so easily that the pressure/worry on the Co-Chairs was reduced to almost nothing.

Louis Vento, a new member and another early arriver, also jumped in where things needed to be done. Who said he
doesn't do windows? Wasn't that a windex bottle he operated to clean the glass for the certificates? Don't
worry Lou we won't tell your wife.

Kelly Wilson has so much on her plate, yet volunteered to work on editing the dinner flyers and was ready to help any
other way she could. We're so lucky to have her as a future president of the club.

Then there was the non-committee members:

M. A., our wonderful M. A. What can we say about her that hasn't been said many times before? A real trouper at the
sign-in table. Before her tour there, she volunteered to supervise Kiwanis members at the lounge.

Wes Wales can't be forgotten. His better half, Wilma, hurt her shoulder that afternoon. Even though he spent all
afternoon with her making emergency medical visits and getting x-rays, he still felt committed to come to the
dinner and gave an invocation that was right on target in every respect.

President Victor only knew to say "I'll do whatever you want". After multiple changes in the program order, he just
kept saying that ...... and meant it. He represents us well.

Our members really stepped up to support the dinner in a big way. At the risk of forgetting someone we won't try to name them all, but suffice it to say "Thank You Everyone!!!!

Lastly non-Kiwanians, Kistler Printing, donated the printing of all the flyers, (To quote Charles "They got them done already? That was fast!") and the programs. All top quality work ,too.

Well that's it for this year. A great big "Thanks" to everyone for your help. You can feel a great deal of accomplishment for a job well done and we had fun doing it.
